In a statement, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) confirmed the partial closure of the main runway of Jinnah International Airport for the next one month. According to the notice, the airstrip will stay partially closed for 5 days a week for 2 hours starting from March 1 to March 31. The reason for the closure: to clean the tire rubber that sticks to the runway surface during takeoffs and landings.

PCAA will ensure that during this time, all planes are directed to the alternate runway for take-offs and landings. Moreover, the schedule has also been decided: on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays the runway of Jinnah International Airport will stay closed from 8 am to 10 am and on Wednesdays, the runway will be closed for 2.5 hours from 9:30 am to 11 am. The closure timings for Fridays will be 9 am to 11 am.
