ISLAMABAD: The United Nations has released the 2020 Review Report on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which ranks Pakistan among the 13 countries achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Completed 10 years ahead of schedule through projects such as the Billion Tree Tsunami Project, Clean Green Pakistan Programs and Electric Vehicle Policy.
Adviser to the Prime Minister Amin Aslam said that according to the UN Annual Review Report, 93 out of 200 countries have achieved the Round No. 13 Climate Action for Sustainable Development, including Pakistan, which is 10 years ahead of the 2030 deadline. This was made possible by measures such as increasing the area of forests, Clean Green Pakistan, reducing emissions of environmentally friendly gases at the national level, policy on electric vehicles and the Pakistan Climate Act 2017.
According to the report, Pakistan’s environmental development, renewable energy and national afforestation projects are helping to tackle the negative effects of climate change. Pakistan is one of the few countries where such measures are being taken.
