Pakistan Rejects Indian Minister’s “Utterly Delusional” Remarks of Integration of AJK in India

The Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday rejected the remarks by an Indian minister from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that called for the integration of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in India. Although the FO statement did not name the minister, it called the remarks “utterly delusional and provocative”. The statement also stated that Indian political figures are accustomed to involving Pakistan in India’s domestic politics to divert public attention from major issues.

Later it was revealed that the Indian minister Raj Kapil Patil made these statements and expressed hopes for the integration of AJK in India by 2024. He stated, “Hope AJK is integrated in India by 2024 as these things can be done only by PM Modi. For this, we’ll have to come out of (the mindset for) potato, onions, pulses.”

The FO advised Indian politicians to refrain from involving themselves in such ‘absurd fantasies’ and understand the gravity of the situation on the ground in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The statement also stated that despite the ongoing Indian oppression and the illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, Kashmiris’ determination to resist the Indian occupation has only become stronger with time.

The BJP appears to have gone overboard with its highly irresponsible and indiscreet remarks, especially with regard to Pakistan and Kashmir. Do you agree?
