An Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be showcased in the National Assembly to PM Imran Khan for testing. The machine that has been developed by the Ministry of Science and Technology is all set to be presented today, August 9, before the session starts. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has invited the National Assembly members to be a part of this occasion and share their constructive feedback about the EVM.
Senator Faraz said that the EVM will be presented to every provincial assembly and the members will be requested to cast a vote using the machine to understand how the process works. The EVM will also be presented to the Senate chairman on Tuesday and to the National Assembly speaker on Wednesday.
Faraz stated that it is the need of time to make elections credible by using advancements in technology, he added that the ministry of science and technology is playing an active role in the expedition of the process towards an electronic and transparent election system.
Faraz said that any observation or suggestion by the National Assembly members will be taken seriously and they will be taken into account for the improvement. He thanked the president and prime minister for their support in achieving this landmark.
Previously, Imran Khan had shared his reviews on EVM. He praised the machine and highlighted the importance of its introduction in the election system. EVM has been designed with the idea of choosing the path of credible elections with the use of technological advancement.
