Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to provide army support during the voting process. The troops are required to be inside and outside the polling stations to maintain peace and transparency in the elections that are scheduled to be held on September 12 on at least 42 cantonment boards all over Pakistan.
This demand was put forward by Senator Saifullah Khan Nyazee, the PTI chief organizer. He wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja after the opposition from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) threatened to create a disturbance. He mentioned that the past record of elections without security didn’t have good results.
