Before Eidul Azha, provincial information minister said in a statement on Wednesday, the Sindh government has opted against closing markets and shopping centres.

The government won’t tighten the lockdown any further, information minister Nasir Hussain Shah said.

The announcement comes one day after the Punjab government declared a “smart lockdown” for curtailing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic on the occasion of Eidul Azha in the province from Monday midnight to August 5.

Shah said Sindh would continue existing lockdown measures in the province, adding that markets and shopping malls would stay open until 7:00 in the evening until Eidul Azha.

“We will ensure enforcement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),” Nasir Shah further said
