WHO Celebrates World Health Day


On the Occasion of “World Health Day” this year, WHO’s given theme “Our Planet, Our Health”, was celebrated by Hamdard Foundation, and Hamdard Public School as they organized an Online Children Health Conference.

Children from different countries such as Canada, UAE, Jordan, France, Iran, and Iraq participated and there were participants from all over Pakistan namely Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad/Pindi, Peshawar, and Quetta. Children participated through their respective schools to highlight the value and importance of “World Health Day” through their powerful and commemorative speeches on the given theme.

The conference started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. After which the inaugural speech regarding the 30th World Children’s Health Conference was delivered by the President of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, Mrs. Sadia Rashid. She said that 3 decades ago the founder of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said held a very unusual conference which was aimed at creating awareness of hygiene among the youth of Pakistan.

Because the sacred spirit of love for children has inspired the existence of organizations like the World Health Organization and in this spirit every year on World Health Day a special theme is used to raise awareness about it globally. Hamdard Foundation Pakistan held a conference on the globally selected topic. And it has thus become a tradition that we have kept alive. In addition, the theme of this year’s World Health Day for WHO is ‘Our Planet, Our Health’. It involves doing everything we can to clean the air, water, and food.

From the Head Office Hamdard, Karachi Fatima Munir Ahmed, M.D, and CEO of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) were also present at this conference. Dr. Sara Salman, Zuberi, Head, WHO sub-office, Sindh was presiding over this conference. Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Minister for Education and Literacy, Govt of Sind, was the Chief Guest. Special Messages were received from Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO, Dr. Ahmed Al Mandaha, Regional Director WHO, Eastern Medetarion Region, and Dr. Palitha Mahipala, WHO Head of Mission, Country Representative, Pakistan, they acknowledged and

appreciated the positive role of Ms. Sadia Rashid, President of the Hamdard Foundation, and congratulated her on her efforts to be a part of the Global Health Awareness Campaign.

While Children from the Pakistani Delegate are: Hafiz Rayyan Hussain Ghaury, Nuzrah Jamal, SAMIYA REHAN from Hamdard Public School, FIZA BASHIR Hamdard Village School, NABIHA GULFAM, and FATIMA SIDDIQUI Brookes Education System, ASNA HASSAN from St. Joseph’s Convent School, AMMARA YASIR from Habib Girls School, and SABA ABBAS from Mama Parsi School Karachi.

Concluding the event, the Administrator, Hamdard Public School Karachi Dr. Khalid Naseem thanked all the participants of the conference and the organizers of the conference Dr. Sana Ghori, Program and Publication Department, Syed Muhammad Arsalan Director HR Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, teachers, and organizers of Hamdard Public School. The ceremony was successfully concluded with Dua-e-Said.
