An Eco-friendly Step: E-Taxi Services Launched for Northern Areas

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has inaugurated e-taxi service for the northern areas of the country, which is a step towards making the hilly terrain environmentally friendly. The first-ever electric vehicles have been introduced as a joint venture of Sapphire Group and Faisal Movers. The objective of this venture is to minimize carbon footprint and preserve the beauty of nature in the northern areas.

Amin congratulated the joint ventures for embracing the future in the field of advanced mobility and sustainable growth. He added that e-taxi is a big effort for Gilgit Baltistan as the province faces severe impacts of temperature.

This step is a revolution for automobiles that would bring in a big change in the valley with the help of an eco-friendly mode of transport. Furthermore, Amin said that climate change is one of the biggest issues in Pakistan and to control those different steps taken in forestry and energy. He also said, “We are looking forward to this technology. China is the leader in EV technology in the world. We are also looking to China to start EV manufacturing units in Pakistan. It’s a great day for Pakistan to welcome EVs at a nascent level which will assist the citizens through a dignified and reliable environment-friendly transport facility.”
