Abtaha Maqsood leads an example for Muslim women as she becomes the first hijab-wearing Muslim cricketer in Britain. The 22-year-old cricketer encourages all girls to pursue cricket as their career especially those who surrender to religious or cultural pressure. Abtaha was born in Glasgow in 1999. Her parents belong to Lahore, Pakistan. Abtaha is currently playing for Birmingham Phoenix. Abtaha acknowledges the support of her parents and siblings which led her to be where is she is today. In an interview, Abtaha said that the love of sports runs in her family and that developed her love for cricket too.
