British authorities will deploy armed security personnel for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and India, British media reported.
The authorities have taken the decision due to security concerns.
Old rivals, Pakistan and India will face each other at Old Trafford Ground in Manchester on June 16 in the mega World Cup 2019, matches between the two always attracts massive crowds.
0.5 million fans have already applied for match tickets, despite the stadium’s capacity to accommodate only 25,000 individuals.
Manchester will also be screening cricket matches live in the Cathedral Gardens, which has a capacity around 3,000.
Vehicle barriers will be erected to prevent repeats of the kind of attacks witnessed on Westminster Bridge in London and Nice.
The movement of people close to the stadium would also be constantly monitored, the media source further said.
British police have also completed verification of local Pakistani and Indian communities.
