Apple to stop child sexual abuse by scanning iCloud uploads

Apple Inc said that the scanning of Apple devices will be implemented through a system that checks photos on iPhones before they are uploaded to iCloud to prevent child sexual abuse via images. The software will monitor pictures that will allow Apple to report doubtful images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Apple said that in order to restrict the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), they want to protect children from predators who use communication tools to exploit them. With the help of new technology, the phone’s operating systems match abusive photos on a user’s device in the CSAM database imaged that is there for child safety.
