Australia has decided to make social media companies gain parental consent on the users aged 16 or above. The draft legislation will be enhancing online privacy protections would need social media companies such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Reddit, or smartphone dating apps such as Bumble to be cautious of all the guidelines and take necessary steps to determine users’ ages and collect data for them accordingly. The data will be prioritized for what is suitable for children on social media sites.

This Online Privacy Bill is soon to be passed and will put Australia on the list of other countries that have controls for social media usage for children.
