Prevention of Leaks: Federal Government Restricts Employees to Use Social Media

The federal government has decided to take strict measures to prevent the leaks of confidential information and documents for which it has prohibited the employees’ use of social media platforms. The Establishment Division passed a statement that read that social networks such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook would not be used unless the permission is approved by the government.

The statement also mentioned that the employees must abide by the Government Servants Rules 1964 under which the government employees are not allowed to make statements and opinions. Upon the violation of this instruction, the government employees have been warned of strict action.

Do you think blocking social media to the government employees in this day and age makes sense?
