After a couple of off days, Pakistan Super League 2019 (PSL 2019) resumes again. With Dubai and Sharjah having hosted their share of PSL 2019 matches, it is now time for Abu Dhabi to turn the host. This is the last leg of PSL 2019 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as after four matches, the tournament will shift to Pakistan.
Karachi is likely to host all the eight matches of the Pakistan Super League’s season 4, chief minister Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday.
However there has not been any official statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board, though the final decision is expected to be announced soon.
A full-dress rehearsal of the security arrangements of Pakistan Super League (PSL)-season 4 matches was held in Karachi today (Sunday), media sources reported.
During the rehearsal, the security forces – comprising Rangers, police and other law enforcement agencies – conducted a drill transporting team from airport to hotel and subsequently moving them to stadium.
The rehearsal was conducted at Nipa roundabout, Karsaz, Dalmia, Jail chowrangi, and other nearby arteries.
Pakistan was to host eight PSL 4 matches, five in Karachi and three in Lahore. Amid the political crisis between Pakistan and India, staging of matches in the country fell in jeopardy. But, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani along with PSL franchise owners held a press conference where they announced that the matches will be held as per schedule.
The three matches, which were to be played in Lahore, are likely to shifted probably due to the disturbed flight schedule in the country.
PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said, “This has been a difficult and tough decision, which has been taken following discussion and consultation with all the franchisees and service providers to ensure certainty and clarity on the event as well as delivery of the remaining matches as per the PCB’s own very high standards.
“Due to the recent and prevailing uncertainty, we felt it critical to make a decisive decision at this juncture. Ensuring all matches are played in Pakistan falls in line with our vision to take all eight matches of the HBL PSL 2019 matches to the people of Pakistan.
“We had considered the option of shifting the dates of the eight matches in Pakistan, but because the Pakistan cricket team has to leave for the UAE on March 19 for the ODI series against Australia, this was not possible. We also looked at swapping matches between Lahore and Karachi, but paucity of time would have rendered this option unworkable.
